WHY SHOULD I DO THIS?
It has been an incredibly difficult time of late and many singers haven’t sung or performed for over 13 months.
Woolwich Opera Works is offering this safe space for you to test out your voice, to offer you helpful feedback on repertoire or roles, provide guidance in audition technique and to be a friendly and supportive face to welcome your return to singing.
The Workshop is a safe space where participants are offered the opportunity to ‘blow out the cobwebs’ and return to what they love before a supportive and knowledgeable professional panel, who are also friendly.
There are no jobs on offer through this workshop, so participants should feel free to sing whatever is appropriate to them at present, taking into consideration the potential lack of singing/performance over the past 12-13 months.
WHAT DO I GET?
Every participant will be offered an audition slot of 15 minutes, in a near as possible industry-standard audition environment. Participants may present up to 3 pieces (totally no more than 12 minutes). Participants will perform their first choice, and the panel will hear some or all of their other pieces, at their discretion.
The panel will then happily provide any help feedback for each participant in a positive and constructive manner, drawing on their collective experience, knowledge and expertise. Notes will be taken and provided at the participant’s request.
Each participant will need to complete an INFO PAGE, and email a digital version of their CV, where appropriate.
WHAT IF I CAN’T TRAVEL TO LONDON?
Online Submissions.
For those who aren’t able to present themselves in person, the workshop is also open to video submissions. We request that these are as recent as possible, and of the highest professional or amateur standard possible – to save the ears of the panel.
If requested, Paul Plummer can provide a backing track to perform to at £5-£10, depending on the length of the aria. He can be contacted at paulyplummer@me.com
Alex Gabriel at https://www.pianistinabox.com is also available to record backing tracks for Online Submissions. He charges £2.50 per track and is available to record to order.
Online Submission Videos should be sent, via WeTransfer, or uploaded to a private link on YouTube, and sent to wowartisticcoordinator@gmail.com
